The Civil Money Penalty Reinvestment Program of Minnesota (CMP) was formed to support activities that benefit care facility residents, protecting or improving their quality of life, using funds collected from penalties imposed on facilities. In 2018, the Minnesota CMP committee prioritized using $385,000 to develop a comprehensive sexual abuse awareness and training program. The result, Elder Sexual Abuse in Care Facilities, focuses on the prevention of ongoing sexual abuse of vulnerable adults in facilities and in the community. Emphasizing a trained and coordinated response to all aspects of sexual abuse, the training brings together the history and experience of care professionals, State of MN advocates, attorneys, and law enforcement professionals.
